The Fall/Autumn photography assignment photos are in… check ‘em out!

My readers reported that this was a tough assignment, since fall happens at different times and in varying degrees in different places, or not at all for some! Kudos to the participants who did a great job of finding creative ways of capturing the spirit of fall/autumn in their respective parts of the world!

Here it is – the final installment of the Alphabet Assignment series! It’s been a long haul and I’d like to thank all of the awesome folks who have participated in this assignment series. I hope you have all enjoyed it as much as I have. A special shout-out goes to my Aunt Mikki who stuck it out through each and every letter. Way to go, Aunt Mikki!

We’ve finally arrived at the last week of the Alphabet Assignment series. As I mentioned previously, I’m going to combine the letters X, Y and Z into this final week to make things a tad easier for everyone. Your assignment this week is to take and submit images that represent the letter X, Y and/or Z in some way. I would PREFER that the photos you submit be taken during this week, but that’s not a rule as it has been with past photography assignments. Please note that you may submit up to FIFTEEN photos for this grande finale assignment.

The challenge is to be CREATIVE in your photography and in selecting your subjects. Try to be creative and/or clever about photographing even the most ordinary of subjects and remember to use good photography composition techniques. This isn’t JUST about participating in an assignment, it’s about improving your photography.

If it might not be clear to the average person just HOW your photo represents the letters X, Y and/or Z, please provide a caption. Better yet, include a caption regardless. Bonus (but imaginary) style points will be awarded for alliterative captions, as I am a sucker for alliteration. Also, if you submit photos of identifiable people, please make sure that they know what’s up and that they are ok with having their photo posted on the blog.

Your XYZ photos are due by Sunday evening, September 4 and the results will be posted in the blog on Tuesday, September 6. Email your photos to me at 39DegN@gmail.com and please limit your submissions to 15 (FIFTEEN!!!) photos.

As always with my assignments, please keep in mind that you don’t need a fancy schmancy camera to play along. DSLR, point-and-shoot, camera phone… it doesn’t matter – these photography assignments are just for fun and to help you become a better photographer by training your eye to see specific things or by practicing certain techniques. There’s no critique involved, no judges, no winners, no prizes… just photos related to the topic of the week taken with whatever camera you have available. As photographer Chase Jarvis has pointed out, “The best camera is the one you have with you.”
